SCAN CONVERTED MISSION DIGITAL
DATA RECORDER (MDDR) SYSTEM

The VSC-MDR-80/R is the latest US Army approved video recording system for the AH-64 A/D model Apache Helicopters. Approved by the US Army Apache Program Management Office with a world-wide Air Worthiness Release (AWR) issued, the VSC-MDR80/R is specifically designed as a drop-in replacement for the TEAC V-1000AB-F 3/4" U-Matic AVTR currently in use on Apaches worldwide.

The VSC-MDR80/R uses the same 875-line to 525-line video scan conversion system as used in the VSC-80B system, except that it provides a right-hand mounting top to facilitate removal of the solid state Removable Memory Module (RMM). The US Army approved RMM is model 80RMM-FD12-USB (shown in the photo). The RMM provides a USB2 connector for direct connection to the mission debrief computer via a commercial USB cable without the need for a docking station. The 80RMM-FD12-USB is sold separately.

The VSC-MDR80/R comes packaged with the TEAC developed Mission Data Debrief Software (MDDS-1) single-channel mission debrief software. MDDS-1 can be installed on most notebook and desktop PC’s operating Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP operating system. MDDS-1 transforms the Apache pilot debrief to the digital realm bringing significant operational benefits: friendly GUI with VCR-like operating functions, quick access to video files, image capture, video segment capture and archiving, frame step counters, event marking, and many more.

Also included in the VSC-MDR-80 packaging is an MDDS operator Computer Based Training (CBT) course. The MDDS CBT allows the operator to go through a self-paced training course on the use of the advanced debriefing software.

The VSC-MDR-80/R is compatible with the Raytheon Photo Telesis STR-403WB in the same manner as the earlier VSC-80B Scan Conversion System.
